Orggu's sea salt comes from the traditional salt pans of Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu — one of India's oldest salt-producing regions. The salt is made by a centuries-old process: seawater is channelled into shallow clay pans where it evaporates naturally under the sun and wind over several weeks.

This traditional process preserves the 80+ trace minerals naturally present in seawater — magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, and many more. There is no bleaching, no chemical treatment, and no addition of iodine or anti-caking agents. The result is salt that is slightly off-white or grey in colour, with a rich mineral flavour that enhances food naturally.
